(More customer reviews)While the glider seems to be very well constructed, the packaging used leaves much to be desired. The left hand side round knob is attached to a screw shaft that was bent out of the box. I guess that the side of the carton was struck sometime during transit to or from Amazon, bending the shaft, breaking the spacer between the knob and chair, and also making the knob crooked. I would have just replaced the knob, shaft, and spacer myself if Dutailier would send one to me. On contacting Dutailier, they said that they could send out the part, but it would have to be through Amazon, which would have to pay for it and also make a claim on the carrier.
The trouble is that firstly, Amazon can't possibly do this kind of thing. Secondly, how can Dutailier be sure that the damage didn't occur between their plant and Amazon's warehouse?
So for want of $1 in parts, I was forced to return the glider. I cannot fault Amazon's return policies, they are wonderful. Dutailier on the other hand, need to think a bit harder about the adequacy of their packaging and customer support policies. Our replacement glider will not be from Dutailier.
