(More customer reviews)My second daughter, now 15 months, was ready to move into a booster, but not ready to give up a restraint strap. I love modern (not contemporary, but *Modern* ala "Dwell" magazine) and Scandinavian design because of the clean lines, and form-following-function sensibility. This chair is the perfect mix!
From the minute I put my daughter in the chair, she was elated. She doesn't really want to get out of it when meals are done, and she toddles up to it between meals and wants to sit in it. Wisely, I bought the "standalone" kit to turn it into a floor-chair, so now she can sit in it on the floor, as well.
It takes about :30 seconds to figure the chair out from taking out of the box. No assembly required. The instructions are printed right on the bottom of the chair, so you don't even need to refer to a manual (not that it's really needed after the first time).
It will not marr the top of your chair or the seat, as there are plastic guards touching the seat, and a softer plastic, not quite as soft as rubber, in contact with the seat-back. This chair will NOT work for every single chair, especially chairs that have a very thick back (perhaps from padding) or chairs with exceptionally short or tall backs. I have rounded back "farmhouse style" chairs (soon to be replaced, whoopeeee!) and it works fine with this style.
The seat folds completely flat for storage or transport; this is the perfect booster to take to friend's home for dinner, or even to a restaurant if the gross high chairs freak you out (I've become immune to the gross-ness as I'm a second-time mom...hahaha!)
I also purchased the seat pad in black. Nice looking, and nice for now. I don't know that it will be necessary in the long run, but it wasn't that expensive, and appears more comfy than the plain wood. The pad can be wiped down, as it is a vinyl type material.
Cleaning is super easy: no more high chair crevaces to clean with a Scunci Steamer or a knife!
Your child may be different, but all of a sudden, my daughter no longer throws food...I think it is because she is actually sitting at the table, watching how mom, dad and big sissy eat, and wants to be like us. She even used a spoon for the first time today! :)
I truly wish I had known about this when my first daughter (now 3 1/2) was in need of highchair.
